Q & A's
Q
Are LINPAC Environmental products recyclable?
A All our products are made from Polyethylene (PE) which is 100% recyclable.
Q What proportion of the products are recycled materials?
A Various ratios of recycled polymer are used in our products dependent on colour, customer requirements and the intended application. When requested at the point of order we can usually guarantee a recycled content of 100% on black products.
Q What happens if a bin is set on fire?
A Moulded polyethylene has a high ignition point so even if the contents of the bin are set on fire the bin itself will not burn. In many circumstances a bin fire will result in the liner being destroyed, but only moderate damage to the inside of the bin; in many cases the replacement of the liner will see the bin returned to a serviceable condition. In extreme circumstances (e.g. where an accelerant such as lighter fluid has been used in an act of deliberate vandalism) the bin itself will melt (but not burn). Some users incorrectly believe that steel bins withstand fires better than plastic ones - in reality metal bins buckle and warp when exposed to significant heat offering no particular advantage over plastic.
